Dr. Ivana Gunjača

Dr. Ivana Gunjača is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biology and Human Genetics and Head of the Laboratory of Human Genetics at the University of Split School of Medicine. Her research focuses on the genetic regulation of thyroid and parathyroid function, with an emphasis on identifying genetic and environmental factors that influence hormone levels and disease susceptibility. Through collaboration on Croatian Science Foundation projects, she has been actively involved in the analysis of phenotypic and genotypic data, integrating genome-wide association studies, meta-analyses, and functional analyses—including immunohistochemical methods—to identify biomarkers linked to thyroid diseases. Within the InnoThyroGen project, she coordinates the establishment of a comprehensive biobank of biological and clinical data from thyroid disease patients and oversees the ethical aspects of data collection and usage.
