2nd InnoThyroGen Summer School of Bioinformatics Opens Registration

News

Join us at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), University of Belgrade, for the 2nd InnoThyroGen Summer School of Bioinformatics, an immersive, hands-on, interdisciplinary training workshop focused on statistical genetics and genetic epidemiology, with a particular emphasis on Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) and Polygenic Risk Scores (PRS).

📅 September 8–12, 2026

📍 Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering (IMGGE), University of Belgrade, Serbia

Participants will engage in practical sessions covering:

  • Introduction to the Linux command line and R programming language;
  • Foundations of statistics for genetic studies;
  • Genome-wide association studies (GWAS), from quality control and statistical models to association analysis;
  • Polygenic risk scores (PRS), from theory to implementation;
  • Advanced approaches, including population structure, functional annotation, meta-analysis, machine learning, and Mendelian randomisation to drive personalized medicine strategies.

The School is organized as part of the Horizon Europe project InnoThyroGen – an EU-funded initiative dedicated to advancing innovative, personalized solutions for thyroid disease diagnosis and treatment.
